Godelieve van Heteren

Godelieve van Heteren studied medicine at Leiden University. She worked as a researcher in London and was full-time University Lecturer at the Medical School of Nijmegen. From 2002 to 2006 she represented the Labour Party (PvdA) in the Dutch Parliament and was spokesperson on national and international health issues, including patient’s rights, quality of care, equity issues, food safety; scientific innovation/biotechnology; and (inter)national security, nuclear and bio-terror.
Since 2006 van Heteren is Senior Health Consultant Coordinator with a specialisation in international affairs and PBF (Performance Based Financing) and Director of Europa Arena, an organisation that is involved in the consultancy for international development projects & organizing European and international public policy and educational events. She is coordinator of the Rotterdam Global Health Initiative: multi-institutional network organization of research institutes of Erasmus University (iBMG, ISS, IHS, Centre for Strategic Philantropy), MGZ/Erasmus Medical Center and the City of Rotterdam in alliance with several social entrepreneurs and international NGOs (Cordaid, HealthNet TPO and KNCV TB Foundation). Furthermore she has been involved in various missions and assignments in performance based financing in health in Kenya, Nigeria, Burundi, Zimbabwe. In 2008-2009 she was Director of International development of the NGO Cordaid.
